Since moving from my parents’ home to my student room in Breda, I’ve found myself in a process of reorientation: who am I, and what is my place in this new environment where I set my own rules?

In this series of self-portraits, made from A4 sheets taped together, I explore how I relate to this new world outside my room. All images are created within the privacy of my student room. I then transfer these images into public space. In that clash between the personal and the public, a continuous experiment emerges around visibility, vulnerability, and taking up space.

Through my life-sized self-portraits, I test where I want to position myself and where I dare to leave my traces. Often, something remains after removing a work: a memory, an association, sometimes quite literally a piece of tape on the wall. These small remnants are meaningful to me. They are a sign that I was there, that I briefly became part of that place, and that I am allowed, even if only for a moment, to exist in the memory of the space and its passers-by.
